Nigeria is known as a country with diverse culture and ethnicity. The north is the Hausa empire, the Yoruba constitute the major population of the west and the Igbo occupies the south. From 1960 to 1975, Nigeria had experienced many coup d'etat led mainly by Yoruba and Hausa generals. Due to these coup, the country faced an increasing and excessive use of clientalism. The reclusive Igbo begin a big revolution in order to gain their independence. This period converged with the drought that devastated the population. In addition to the loss of population, nigeria became divided and this largely affect it's political and economic weaknesses.
